On my last full day in Ireland I visited Trinity College, home of the famous Book of Kells.
Trinity was established in 1592, but most of the buildings I saw look to have been built in the 18th and 19th centuries. My alma mater’s campus mostly consists of mid century brutalist buildings, which left me feeling a little bit jealous of the students. While Trinity does have its fair share of such buildings, nobody bothers with photos of them for obvious reasons.
The highlight of visiting Trinity was seeing the Book of Kells (I’d never seen an illuminated manuscript before), but photographing the book isn’t allowed. The second best thing (which can be photographed is the Old Library.
Damned impressive. With the world at least mostly back to normal now, I hope to do more traveling in the future.
